About
Witcher Skills is a free online build planner for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game. It helps you experiment with ability points, active skill slots, gear, mutations, effective stats and check an alchemy catalog before you spend resources in-game — or lets you theory-craft a new run from the couch.
What you can do here
- Skills — Allocate points across Combat, Signs, Alchemy, and General trees. The planner enforces Patch 4.0 tier gates, with updated descriptions and values.
- Equipment — Equip steel and silver swords, armor, crossbows, and bolts from Witcher school sets or Relic gear. Socket glyphs and runestones, or apply glyphwords and runewords, and see how bonuses flow into your stat sheet.
- Mutations — Research Blood and Wine mutations, activate one mutation set, and assign extra skill slots granted by mutations.
- Alchemy — Browse potions, decoctions, oils, and bombs in the alchemy catalog while planning a build.
- Stats — View approximate vitality, stamina, armor, sword DPS, sign intensity, toxicity, and other values that update as you change skills and gear similar to the in-game UI.
- Export builds — Copy a link that saves your full configuration so you can share with friends or revisit a setup later.
Built for Patch 4.0 / Next-Gen
The December 2022 Next-Gen update (Patch 4.0) reworked several progression rules. This calculator follows those changes rather than pre-4.0 guides you may still find online:
- Most skills cap at 3 ranks instead of 5.
- Tier unlock thresholds in Combat, Signs, and Alchemy are 6 / 12 / 18 branch points (previously 10 / 20 / 30).
- Steady Aim is limited to one rank in Patch 4.0.
- Revised equipment resistances and stat values.
If you are returning after years away or starting fresh on PC/console, using 4.0-accurate numbers saves a lot of respec headaches.
How this differs from wikis
Wiki pages are excellent resources for reference-only. Witcher Skills is meant for planning: you see remaining ability points, slot restrictions, set bonuses, and live stats in one place. Change one skill or swap a sword and the whole sheet reacts — something a static article cannot do.
Stat formulas are approximations based on game files and community data mining. They are useful for comparing builds relative to each other, but they are not a guarantee of in-game damage against every enemy type, potion combo, or difficulty setting.
