Cat
Potion · Patch 4.04
Grants sight in total darkness. 25 Range of vision. 5% Critical hit chance.
Where to get the diagram
Geralt already knows the Cat potion at the start of the game — no diagram needed for the base version.
For upgrades:
- Enhanced Cat — found in a chest in the basement of an abandoned house in Mulbrydale, or bought from the herbalist at Kaer Trolde Harbor or Jonna in Rannvaig.
- Superior Cat — sold by the herbalist at the Herbalist's Hut northeast of Oxenfurt.
How it works
Cat sharpens Geralt's night vision by shifting the world to grayscale, while living targets stand out in red. That makes it easy to spot and track monsters in the dark — especially inside caves and other places where visibility is poor.
The potion also reveals invisible foes, including Foglets, Ekimmaras, and Katakans, so you are not fighting blind against enemies that rely on stealth.
Since the Next-Gen update (Patch 4.0), Cat also grants critical hit chance on top of its sight benefits — 5% on the base brew, 7% on Enhanced, and 10% on Superior.
Base, Enhanced, and Superior
All tiers grant darkness vision and extended sight range. Higher tiers last longer and add:
- Enhanced — grants immunity to hypnosis, which is especially useful against Fiends and other foes that rely on that effect, plus a stronger Patch 4.0 crit bonus.
- Superior — the longest duration, the same hypnosis immunity, and the strongest crit bonus.
Build synergies
Cat pairs well with critical-hit setups: Feline school gear, Precise Blows, Crushing Blows, Hunter Instinct, and Killing Spree all scale with the extra crit chance the potion provides, so you get more value from the same night-vision tool in combat-heavy builds.
